Option 1: Connect Through Heathrow
Book a domestic UK flight onto a Heathrow to India flight, ideally on one ticket so you are protected if the first leg runs late.
Option 2: Take a One-Stop Flight
Gulf, Turkish and European airlines connect regional UK airports with many Indian cities, often at a lower fare.

India e-Visa for UK Passport Holders
British passport holders need an e-Visa. Apply at least four days before travel, and up to 120 days in advance. Use only the official Government of India visa portal, because copycat sites charge extra for the same form. Fees and validity options change, so check the portal when you apply. Your passport should also have enough remaining validity, so check the current requirement first.
The India e-Arrival Card
This step is easy to miss. Since 1 October 2025, all foreign nationals, including OCI cardholders, must file the free e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival. It replaces the paper form and does not replace your visa. Set a reminder for the day before you fly, because you cannot file it earlier than the 72-hour window.
