Nonstop Flights to India from London
London is the UK's main gateway to India. Heathrow has the widest choice, and the airlines compete on price, timing, and cabin. Routes and frequencies change by season, so we confirm the current schedule before we issue your ticket.

Why Flight Times to India Vary
The nonstop flight from London to Delhi is listed at about 8 hours 40 minutes with Virgin Atlantic, about 9 hours with British Airways, and about 10 hours 40 minutes with Air India. The difference exists because Indian carriers have had to avoid Pakistani airspace since 2025, which adds time to their flights. When you compare fares, compare the journey time as well.
Which Indian Airport for Your Destination?
India is large, so the right gateway can save you a long onward journey. This is a guide to the usual gateways.

Northern India: Delhi and Amritsar
Delhi is the main gateway for northern India, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Amritsar is the nearest airport for Punjab, with nonstop flights from Gatwick and Birmingham.
Western India: Mumbai and Ahmedabad
Mumbai is the gateway to Maharashtra and the west coast. Ahmedabad is the gateway to Gujarat, with nonstop flights from Gatwick.
Southern India: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa and Kochi
Hyderabad serves Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Bengaluru serves Karnataka and the southern technology hub, and Chennai serves Tamil Nadu. Goa and Kochi have seasonal or limited nonstop services, so we check the schedule for your dates.
Flights to India from Manchester, Birmingham and Other UK Airports
Outside London, most flights to India have one stop. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Turkish Airlines connect through Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Istanbul, and journeys usually take 11 to 15 hours. Birmingham also has nonstop flights to Delhi and Amritsar on some schedules, and Manchester has had nonstop flights on some routes. These flights vary by season, so we check them for your dates.
If you are travelling from the north, we compare a one-stop flight from your airport with a nonstop flight from London, including the cost of getting there.

India Visa for British Citizens: Entry Steps Before You Fly
The steps below come from the latest GOV.UK advice, updated in October 2026.
Passport and Visa
Your passport must be valid for at least six months after you arrive and have at least two blank pages. British citizens need a visa, unless they hold an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card. You may be able to apply for an e-visa, and you should check the airport and entry-point restrictions before you apply.
Online Forms and Health Declaration
Complete the e-arrival card online before you reach immigration, up to 72 hours before you arrive. All international passengers must also complete a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal, up to 24 hours before arrival.
OCI Holders, Pakistani Origin and Cash
OCI holders can travel on their OCI card with their British passport and do not need a visa. An electronic OCI, introduced in June 2026, means you do not need to carry a physical copy. If you are a British-Pakistani dual national, you must apply for your Indian visa on your Pakistani passport, and processing takes much longer. You must declare more than 5,000 US dollars in notes, or more than 10,000 US dollars in notes and travellers' cheques combined. Make sure your passport is stamped on arrival.
Rules change, so confirm them on the GOV.UK India entry requirements page and with the Indian High Commission in London.
